Make an Advising Appointment

Honors advisors will begin scheduling appointments on Friday, September 1, 2017.

Schedule your advising appointment online in SAGE, the Student Advising and Guidance Expert. Instructions for using SAGE can be found on the Make an Appointment page.

Honors advisors are the primary advisors for most arts & sciences majors with fewer than 60 hours earned, as well as intended business, intended journalism, and intended pharmacy majors. Please see the bottom of this page for some exceptions.

If you have recently changed your major and have not been reassigned, or if you encounter difficulties making an appointment, please email your Honors advisor or honors@uga.edu. You may cancel or reschedule your appointment up to 24 hours in advance in SAGE.

Walk-in Hours

Honors advisors are available for brief questions and consultation outside of the advisement appointment. You will not be cleared for registration during walk-in hours. Walk-in hours do not substitute for the required advisement appointment.

Walk-in hours are available Mondays through Wednesdays from 2-4 p.m. in Moore College, and Thursdays from 5-7 p.m. in 137 Myers Hall. Please check in at the front desk for walk-in hours at Moore College.

You can view your primary advisor's walk-in availability on SAGE, but you may meet with any Honors advisor during walk-in hours.

Exceptions

ALL Arts & Sciences majors with over 60 hours earned MUST be advised by the major department; no Honors appointment is necessary. You may come to walk-in hours with Honors-specific questions following your major advising appointment.

The following Arts & Sciences departments begin advising majors before 60 hours are completed:
  • All CHEMISTRY majors should contact Dr. Doug Stinnett
  • All GENETICS majors should contact Michael Hill
  • All HISTORY majors should contact Jessica Couch
  • All MATH majors should contact Dr. Maurice Hendon
  • All MUSIC majors should contact Jeremy Wheatley
  • All STAT majors should contact Dr. Anne Marie Vencill
  • CLASSICAL CULTURE/LANGUAGE majors with over 45 hours earned, contact Jordana Rich
  • GEOGRAPHY majors with over 45 hours earned, contact Harriett Gunter
  • GEOLOGY majors with over 45 hours earned, contact Dr. Rob Hawman
  • PHYSICS majors with over 45 hours earned, contact Dr. Craig Wiegert
  • PHYSICS & ASTRONOMY majors with over 45 hours earned, contact Dr. J.P. Caillault
  • BIOCHEMISTRY majors should contact Veronica Gilliard after the first year of enrollment
  • CELL BIOLOGY majors should contact Chera Watts after the first year of enrollment
  • PLANT BIOLOGY majors should contact Chera Watts after the first year of enrollment
  • HONORS STUDENTS IN ALL OTHER SCHOOLS AND COLLEGES (e.g. CAES, education, engineering, SPIA) will have a primary advisor in your college. You may come to walk-in hours for Honors questions or follow up with an Honors advisor as needed, but an Honors advisor cannot clear you for registration.

INTENDED BUSINESS majors who are applying to Terry this semester will NOT be advised by Honors. You will be advised by your Terry major advisor following acceptance.
