The Morehead Honors College at the University of Georgia is campus-wide, serving students in all undergraduate majors and providing the benefits of a small liberal arts college nestled within a Research 1 university. Through early registration, small class sizes, a dedicated residence hall, internship programs, travel-study funding, research opportunities, service organizations, academic advising, professional development, faculty connections, external scholarship support, and alumni networks, Honors opens doors to the best the university has to offer.

Honors first-year profile

Honors students excel academically and engage in meaningful leadership and service activities that foster growth and positive change. While there is no minimum requirement to apply to Honors, the following data highlights the academic excellence for the middle 50% of our 2026 enrolled class:

SAT Middle 50%: 1500-1540 
ACT Middle 50%: 34-35  
UGA Calculated GPA: 4.29-4.46 

*This is not the GPA students see on their high school transcript, but rather the GPA that UGA recalculates for everyone based on the core academic courses taken in high school and the actual grades posted on the transcripts. 

Honors Application Process

There are two pathways into the Morehead Honors College for first-year applicants.

Early Action

The Early Action pathway is available to students who submit an Early Action application to UGA by October 15. All Early Action UGA applicants will be considered for automatic acceptance into the Honors College, and no additional materials beyond the Common App are required for consideration in this preliminary review.

In-state Early Action applicants who are automatically accepted into Honors will be notified along with their UGA acceptance in mid-late November, and out-of-state Early Action applicants who are automatically accepted into Honors will be notified in mid-late December.

Students interested in applying for the Foundation Fellowship must apply to UGA through Early Action and submit the Honors/Foundation Fellowship application by November 1. Consideration for the Foundation Fellowship is based on the Common Application, the Morehead Honors College application, and the Foundation Fellowship supplemental materials, which include a biographical statement and video.

Because the Foundation Fellowship application is embedded within the Morehead Honors College application, students must first begin the Honors application before gaining access to the Foundation Fellowship section. By submitting a Foundation Fellowship application, you are also applying to the Morehead Honors College.

Honors College Application

Early Action applicants who are not automatically accepted into Honors must fill out an Honors College application to be considered for Honors acceptance through the Regular Decision pathway. All Regular Decision UGA applicants are also required to fill out an Honors College application for consideration. This application opens September 1 and closes January 15.

Once an applicant has created a UGA application using the Common App, they will receive login credentials from UGA Admissions to access their Admissions Status Portal. Once students receive these credentials, they may access the Honors application from their Admissions Status Portal or by using the “Apply” button below.

Please note that applicants do not have to be accepted by UGA Admissions before they apply to the Honors College. Rather, students are encouraged to apply for all relevant UGA and Honors-related opportunities concurrently, and students will receive updates about their UGA and Honors decisions on the timeline outlined below.
