A portrait of Cora Nunnally (Lamar Dodd, 1940) hangs in the Cora Nunnally Miller Small Animal Teaching Hospital in the UGA College of Veterinary Medicine.

The Cora Nunnally Miller Award is available to Honors students and Honors alumni who will graduate or have already graduated from the University of Georgia with Honors distinction and who will continue their studies at either Harvard Law School or Yale Law School.

Cora Nunnally Miller was a passionate advocate for animal health, conservation, the arts, and education, and she believed in the impact higher education could have on these causes. She anonymously gave more than $33 million to the UGA Foundation throughout her lifetime and granted permission for the university to share her name only after her death. Her last gift, $17 million made at her passing in July 2015, had a transformational effect on the university, and it included funds to support Honors students and alumni from UGA who would be attending either Harvard Law School or Yale Law School.

Mrs. Miller was committed to attracting and recruiting talented high school students to Honors who would become proud UGA alumni and would go on to attend these prestigious law schools. From that final gift, the Cora Nunnally Miller Award was formed.

Each year, the Morehead Honors College selects one recipient of the Cora Nunnally Miller Award, given to a rising first-year law student attending Harvard Law School or Yale Law School. The award recipient will receive $24,000 annually; this support will continue for the course of that student’s law studies, with a maximum support period of three years.
