All Honors students are eligible to enroll in graduate-level courses (graduate courses are those numbered 6000 or higher).

For the purposes of Honors graduation distinctions, a graduate course may count toward the Graduate Course Capstone or as upper-level Honors coursework, but not as both. You will find more details in the Honors graduation requirements.

If you receive a registration error when you attempt to add a graduate-level course through Athena, the academic department of instruction may have placed a restriction on the course. If this happens, you will need to request permission to register directly from the department or course instructor.

Split-level courses

If you register for the 4000-level section of a split-level course, you cannot receive graduate credit for the course even if you complete the graduate-level syllabus. You must be registered for the 6000-level course to receive graduate credit.

Double Dawgs

In most cases, you do not have to be a Double Dawgs candidate in order to enroll in courses at the graduate-level. If you are a Double Dawgs candidate, all graduate-level courses completed before your undergraduate degree is awarded will earn Honors credit, even if they are not applicable toward your undergraduate degree.

Graduate-level courses taken while you are enrolled as an undergraduate may apply toward a graduate degree program only through the Double Dawgs program.
