Advising & Registration
Make an Advising Appointment
First- and second-year Honors students in the Franklin College of Arts & Sciences can make advising appointments online using the Student Advising & Registration Assistant, SARA. You may wish to bookmark this page.
Instructions for using SARA: Make An Appointment
Honors advising appointments will begin on Monday, February 4, 2013.
Early Registration for all Honors students will begin on April 3, 2013. Please check your time in the Registration menu of OASIS.
Arts & Sciences, Pre-Business, and Pre-Journalism students with fewer than 60 hours earned will meet with an Honors advisor.
Arts & Sciences students in their second or third year with 60 hours or more completed should be advised in their major department. Please see the bottom of this page for exceptions.
If you encounter difficulties making an appointment, please email your Honors advisor. Students who need to cancel or reschedule an appointment may do so 24 hours in advance in SARA.
Students who have questions for Honors advisors but who do not need to be cleared for registration should come to advisors’ walk-in hours. Walk-in hours are available Monday through Friday from 2pm—4pm in Moore College, and Thursdays and Fridays from 2pm—4pm in 137 Myers Hall. Please check in at the reception desk for walk-in hours at Moore College.
Honors course Access (POH)
Honors students may request Permission of Honors (POH) for two (2) Fall 2013 Honors courses according to the following schedule:
Please note that for purposes of POH, we consider the year to be determined by your matriculation term at UGA and not by the classification of hours. If you entered UGA in Fall 2012, when requesting POH you are considered a first-year student regardless of the number of hours you carry.
Students who receive access before their date permits will have that access canceled.
Please see the Honors Program Course Schedule for a current list of course offerings. Click on the call number of the course selection to confirm the availability of seats.
PROCEDURE FOR REQUESTING POH
For POH course access, email your Honors advisor or firstname.lastname@example.org with your full legal name, date of birth, and the 5-digit call numbers of the courses that you are requesting. Access will not be granted by phone until email requests have been answered. Access requests left on voicemail will not be processed. Phones will not be answered before 10am on the dates above, the first day of Honors registration, or during Drop/Add week in order to answer email requests.
Exceptions and clarifications
Arts & Sciences students who have completed areas I-VI of their core (or 60 or more credit hours completed) MUST be advised by the major department; no Honors appointment is necessary. You may come to walk-in hours with Honors-specific questions following your major advising appointment.
Students in all other schools and colleges (e.g. College of Education, CAES, FACS, SPIA) must see their college advisor to obtain clearance for registration; you may come to walk-in hours for Honors questions or follow-up with an Honors advisor as needed.
PRE-BUSINESS students who are applying to Terry this semester will NOT be advised by Honors. You will be notified mid-semester of your acceptance into a Terry major, and you will then be advised by your new Terry major advisor.
