Make an Advising Appointment

Honors students can make advising appointments online with the Student Advising & Registration Assistant, SARA. You may wish to bookmark this page.

Instructions for using SARA: Make An Appointment

Advising appointments for first- and second-year Honors students in the Franklin College of Arts & Sciences will begin on Monday, February 6.

Students in their second or third year with 60 hours or more should be advised in their major department.

If you encounter difficulties making an appointment, please email your advisor. Students who need to cancel or reschedule an appointment may do so 24 hours in advance in SARA.

Walk-in Questions

Students who have questions for Honors advisors but who do not need to be cleared for registration should come to advisors’ walk-in hours, Monday through Thursday from 2-4pm. Please check in at the front desk.

Honors Access (POH)

Students may request Honors access for two (2) Fall 2012 Honors courses according to the following schedule:

  • Fourth-year students: Tuesday, January 31
  • Third-year students: Wednesday, February 1
  • Second-year students: Thursday, February 2
  • First-year students: Friday, February 3

Please note that we are not going by hours but by year. If you entered in Fall 2011 you are a first-year student regardless of the number of hours you carry.

*Students who receive access before their date allows will have that access canceled.*

**CHANGE OF POH PROCEDURE**

Access requests left on voicemail will not be processed. For access, email your Honors advisor or honors@uga.edu with your full legal name, date of birth, and the 5-digit call # of the courses that you are requesting.

Clarifications and Exceptions

Students who have completed areas I-VI of their core (60 or more credit hours) MUST be advised by their major department; no Honors appointment is necessary.

You may come to walk-in hours with Honors-specific questions following your appointment.

Arts & Sciences, Pre-Business, and Pre-Journalism students will be advised in either Moore College and Myers Hall. Students in all other schools and colleges (e.g. College of Education, CAES, FACS, SPIA) must see their college advisor to receive clearance for registration; they may schedule an optional follow-up appointment with an Honors advisor or come to walk-in hours for Honors questions.

Pre-Business students who are applying to Terry this semester will NOT be advised by Honors. You will be notified mid-semester of your acceptance into a Terry major, and you will then be advised by your new Terry departmental advisor. Your Terry advising appointment will occur before Honors students register that semester, so you will not miss your early Honors registration.

Math, Computer Science, Physics, or Physics & Astronomy majors should make an appointment in SARA with Dr. Ted Shifrin (shifrin@math.uga.edu).

Biochemistry majors who have 45 hours or more completed should contact Dr. Mike Adams (adams@bmb.uga.edu; 542-2060) to set up an advising appointment.

Music Majors must be advised by Dr. Mary Leglar (mleglar@uga.edu) in the Music Dept.
