The Ramsey Honors Scholarship was created by the trustees of the University of Georgia Foundation in 2000 and is named for the university’s most generous individual benefactor, the late Bernard Ramsey (BS ’37), long-time chairman of the board of Merrill Lynch.
From 2000-2020, Ramsey Scholars were selected through the Foundation Fellows application process. In 2021, the Ramsey Honors Scholarship was merged with the Foundation Fellowship.
Ramsey Scholars and Foundation Fellows share the same community programming and participate in the same off-campus retreats; scholarships advising and professional development; alumni networking; and academic, social, and cultural events throughout the year.
Including the Class of 2024, the final class of Ramsey Scholars, 157 Ramsey Honors Scholars have graduated from UGA.
