Rachel Hignite joined the Recruitment and Enrollment team in the Morehead Honors College in January 2026. She assists with Honors admissions, including Honors information sessions and management of first-year entry, first-semester entry and transfer applications. Before joining the Honors College, Rachel taught courses in UGA’s first-year writing program and in UGA’s linguistics department as an instructor of record, where she also developed curriculum for new teachers.
Rachel grew up in Kennesaw, Georgia, but has lived in the Athens area for more than a decade. She holds a master’s degree in historical linguistics and a bachelor’s degree in linguistics from the University of Georgia. Outside of the office, she enjoys reading, traveling, and playing with her cats.
