Meeting faculty
Meet & Greets The Meet & Greets allow first-year Honors students to explore the people and places on the University of Georgia campus within their first few weeks at UGA. They also provide faculty with an opportunity to meet some of the best and brightest undergraduates and to inform them of the vast array of academic opportunities available. During the first half of each Meet & Greet, faculty introduce themselves to the students, including information about their courses, majors, academic organizations, research and study abroad opportunities within the department; and, as an ice breaker, one personal tidbit about their lives off-campus. During the second half of the Meet & Greet, faculty and students mingle while sharing pizza and sodas provided by the Honors Program. The Meet & Greets are an ideal way to facilitate relationships between students and faculty and to promote student interest in the academic opportunities available in the participating departments, schools, and colleges. Book discussions & Lunchbox lectures Lunchbox lectures featuring UGA faculty are held in Moore College. Attendance is limited to the first 25 students who RSVP. Lunch is provided by the Honors Program through support from the Honors Program Annual Fund. The Honors Program hosts faculty-led book discussions throughout the year. Discussions are held over dinner, usually in professors' homes, and all books are provided by the Honors Program through support from the Honors Program Annual Fund.
