The Honors Science Sequence is a two-semester program (HONS 2070H in the fall, HONS 2080H in the spring) that fulfills the General Education core curriculum science requirement (Area II or Area D) for non-science majors, including the laboratory and environmental literacy requirements. HONS 2070H is offered fall semester and focuses on physics and chemistry. Geology and biology are studied during spring semester with HONS 2080H.
The courses are team taught by senior faculty in each of the respective departments and emphasize integrating the physical and biological sciences in such a way that science becomes a meaningful part of one's life.
Weekend field trips each semester allow students to apply what is learned in the classroom to the natural environment. The goal is to produce scientifically literate citizens and informed consumers of scientific information.
